Workout Day 83 AND 84!

Yep… Got 2 in today!

P90X  –  X Stretch
Total Time = 63 Minutes

P90X – Kenpo X
Total Time = 64 Minutes

We had a location shoot earlier today, so we started the day with a nice Stretch class.  I had missed an X Stretch a few weeks back when I was out of town, so I owed ya one anyway.  Then it was off to our shoot and running errands.  We got back and I rested for a bit while taking in the 2nd half of the Kentucky-Louisville game and then it was time to hit it again.  I gotta be honest, I was feeling very lethargic and not really in the mood to launch into a full blown intense cardio workout.  But… that is the trick.  And this is my advice to all of you… bring it every day.   Regardless of how tired you are or if you are not ‘in the mood’, you must still show up and give it your best.  I struggled a bit today and got out of breath a few times even though this is a workout I normally breeze through.  But… I find that when I push myself at these times, I make my biggest strides and have my biggest gains.  It is finding the strength, the endurance, and the will to push on when you don’t want to that truly defines your commitment to achieving your goals.  And for that, I thank and honor myself for continuing to bring it hard almost every single day.  I only have 6 workouts remaining on my 90 day program and I am just getting started!  I hope you are all having an amazing weekend.  Keep working hard!

Workout Day 82!

Now THAT’S  the way to come back strong!

P90X – Core Synergistics
Total Time = 63 Minutes

After a tough day yesterday, I came back on a total high note this morning and hit the Core workout hard!  Man if there is any workout in this program that is the full body blast, it is Core Synergistics!  I was sweating hard, breathing hard, and working hard.  My entire body is totally spent right now from the workout that I just put in.  And it feels oh so good.  🙂

Before I started my workout this morning, I found this quote and shared it on my facebook.  I wanted to share it here as well.  I wish you all a beautiful Friday and a fantastic weekend!

“Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be cumbered with your old nonsense.” -Ralph Waldo Emerson

Workout Day 81!

Good thing it was stretch day…

P90X  –  X Stretch
Total Time = 63 Minutes

I’m a man of few words today.  It wasn’t the best day for me and I was nursing a pretty major headache for over 3 hours while trying to get things done as well as get home in  bad traffic earlier this evening.  I took a few breaths and then got my workout in.  As I said above… good thing it was stretch day on the calendar because that’s about all I was gonna make it through.  The stretch did feel good however.  At least I was able to work some tension off my muscles which was a step in the right direction.  I saw a quote earlier.  It read… “Life always offers you a second chance… it’s called tomorrow.”  So with that I bid you a good night and a beautiful tomorrow.

Workout Day 80!

A little Kenpo to round out the day!

P90X – Kenpo X
Total Time = 64 Minutes

I had an early start today because I had a modeling gig for the cover of the upcoming June issue of Rebel Ink Magazine.  We had a great shoot on the beach out in Malibu.  By the time I got home and attended to some work, the evening had arrived.  So, I got busy and made sure I got my workout in before it got too late.  Kenpo was great as always.  I went more intense then the count on several of the exercises.  My kicks are getting higher and overall I am feeling great results.  That’s about it for now.  I need to eat!  And chill.  Before I go, here’s a little behind the scenes pic from my shoot today.  I know… tough day at the office.  😉   Have a great night!

Workout Day 79!

Intense workout with some twists!

P90X – Legs and Back*
P90X – Ab Ripper X
Total Time = 80 Minutes

Busy morning right out of the gates today.  Had to get some work done first before my workout.  Then it was time to take a break and bring the heat!  I brought it hard today, adding more weight and more intensity to my leg moves.  I put an * next to Back above because I felt the need to switch that up a bit today.  My back was still sore from the last workout and still not at 100%.  So during the back exercise, I switched it up with Chest, Triceps, and Biceps.  Boy that was intensity… I was winded and sweating all over the place!  I finished strong with Abs and changed out a few of the exercises in Ab Ripper X as well just for some more variety.  A solid workout overall and feeling very good right now.  Time to go as we have an actor client on the way for a headshot photo shoot.

Before I go, if you happen to be in front of a TV tonight… My episode of “Body of Proof” is airing on ABC at 10pm Eastern & Pacific, 9pm Central. If I didn’t hit the cutting room floor, then you will see me… dead… being autopsied by Luke Perry. Well we can now check ‘having my shirt ripped off by Luke Perry’ off the bucket list. 😉
Here’s the IMDB link for the show:

Enjoy!!! 🙂

It’s lookin’ like a rest day…

We had an unexpected early morning shoot today for one of our regular acting clients.  He needed an audition on tape immediately for a big part in a new TV show.  So despite a very small amount of sleep, we were up and at em early so we could help him out.  After that it was right to work and we have been on these computers all damn day.  Exhausted and sore and we still have to clean up the studio for our headshot client tomorrow.  So… it’s looking like a rest day so that we can hit it early tomorrow morning with a fresh start.  All good… even though I still hate rest days. lol.

Btw… I got word today that my Comcast Xfinity commercial hit the air this morning. Yay!  I haven’t even seen it yet, but keep your eyes peeled.  It’s the scene in the airport where we are delayed.  I’m the drummer spinning my sticks.  See the pic below from the shoot so you know what to look out for.  Have a great night! 🙂

A perfect Rainy Day Recipe…

In honor of yesterday’s beautiful rainy Sunday here in L.A., I decided to make the perfect meal…  A Vegetarian Bean Soup!  It is delicious, nutritious, inexpensive, and easy to make.  Plus, the recipe isn’t set in stone, so you can vary the ingredients to your tastes.  I actually have a hard time following any recipe as my cooking style is very… experimental and improvisational. haha.  I don’t even like using measuring spoons or cups.

Ingredients:
1 package of 17 Bean & Barley mix
2 Cartons of Organic Low Sodium Vegetable Broth
Organic Veggies of your choice (Onions, Garlic, Green Pepper, Celery, Carrots, Tomatoes, etc.)
Basil, Italian Seasoning, Salt & Pepper, etc.

All the ingredients can be purchased inexpensively at Trader Joes or similar.  The two key ingredients are the beans and the vegetable broth seen in the photo below.  The rest is up to you.

I like the 17 Bean & Barley Mix because it has a little of everything.  But you can use whatever bean combination you like.  The vegetable broth is essential though, and I recommend the organic low sodium broth.

Since the beans are totally raw and dry, I had to soak them.  I forgot to put them in water the night before, so I did the quick soak method which worked pretty good.  There are instructions on the back of the package for the quick soak.  It takes a little over an hour.

After the beans were ready, I drained and rinsed them and then put them into my pot along with 4 cups of vegetable broth, which is one entire carton.  Then I chopped up my veggies.  I used a whole onion, 4 cloves of garlic, a green pepper, 3 whole carrots, and a handful of chopped up tomatoes.  The recipe called for a can of tomatoes, so I improvised.  I meant to use celery as well, but totally forgot.  Ooops.

I then sauteed the veggies in a separate pan with a little safflower oil and touch of garlic olive oil.  I seasoned them with basil, Italian seasoning, a little cayenne pepper for a kick, and a little salt and pepper as well.  When the veggies were soft, I added the mix to the beans and broth and then added a little more broth on top and brought to a boil.  Once boiling, I reduced to a low flame and let simmer for about an hour.  About halfway through, I added more broth as the beans and veggies were soaking it up.  I also added a few more dashes of salt as it was slightly bland.  Although I always go on the healthier side and keep it more bland rather than make it too salty.

When the hour was up, the soup was ready!  That’s it!  Beans and Veggies and wholesome goodness.  I knocked back 2 bowls as it warmed my soul and completed my day.  See photo below and enjoy!  🙂
