Sunset Stretch & Meditation

Shortly after I posted my workout blog, I decided to step out onto the roof to enjoy the sunset.  It was a beautiful site as you can see below.  Absorbing energy from the setting sun… I stretched & meditated to save the body & sooth the soul.  I needed that.  As I said earlier, I was very sore today and my muscles were tight.  Relaxing in the sun and feeding off it’s rays, I went pretty deep into some stretches and felt my body totally open up.  I wasn’t following any stretching program, rather just flowing with it and letting my body lead the way.  With the sunset shining so bright, it was almost trance-like.  It felt amazing and the bonus Vitamin D was nice as well.  I settled in to a pretty deep meditation…  appreciating life and enjoying clarity.  I am all set now for a productive evening and I feel very grounded and focused.  Wishing you all a beautiful night… and enjoy this site…

P90X – Round 2, Day 59!

A lil Saturday afternoon cardio…

I woke up SORE this morning.  Wow… these last few workouts are giving the gift that keeps on giving.  My legs and back are STILL sore from my workout on Wednesday.  And Chest, Shoulders, and Triceps are of course as well from yesterday’s blast.  Add in 3 hours of drumming at band rehearsal last night and you can only imagine how I felt this morning.  However, we were hell bent on getting our cardio workout in.  Since Mary was joining me for today’s workout, we opted for the slightly easier Cardio X program.  I had originally put the Plyometrics DVD in.  Probably a good thing she requested Cardio X instead.

Today was one of those workouts where you just don’t  want to do it.  Well… you WANT to do it, but you really don’t want to do it.  Instead of finding an excuse, we just went for it.  During the stretch I could barely touch my toes.  Uh oh… haha.  Well, despite the fact that there wasn’t a lot of fuel in the tank, we powered through and still got a decent workout in.  And hey… that’s  ALWAYS better than nothing.

Now it’s time for a hot Saturday night of… laundry, dishes, cleaning, organizing, and getting ready for another big week.  Haha.  Well, I do have 2 gigs this week as well… so that’s kind of like working and partying all at the same time.  The best of both worlds.  Whatever you are doing, I wish you a beautiful evening.

I am jello right now.  I swear this workout does me in every time.  I can barely move my arms and I’m shaking.  Haha… yes in this case that is a good thing.

Over these past few weeks I have been working out on an every other day schedule with a focus on the weight training workouts.  It has been effective for me as we have been busier these last 3 weeks than we have been all year.  Also, I have been focusing on more weight training than cardio because I had lost a few pounds early on and I wanted to add a few back of the muscle variety.  I have seen some nice gains in recent weeks.  I will start adding more cardio back in now as well as yoga and stretch.  I don’t wanna lose sight of those even with a busy schedule.

Now that I’ve burned myself out, I need to recharge as I have a 3 hour band rehearsal tonight with Hollywood Roses.  I hope my arms will work so can slam dem drums. haha.

Back at it!

Wow it’s been a crazy last few days.  Several big photo shoots, a live show, plus work and not much sleep.  Feels great to be so busy but also feeling a bit run down.  Regardless, I pulled it together this morning and knocked out the big legs and back workout.  I went hard today and expended all of my energy.  By the end, I was toast.  I had barely enough in me to stretch out.  I actually had to chill for a few and then take a shower to get myself back on track for the day.  Still lots of work to do, so no resting for the wicked.  I can’t believe it’s already Wednesday.  Need… more… hours.. in… the… day.  I hope you’re having a fantastic and productive week.  I gotta get back to it.  More later.  Ciao!

P90X – Round 2, Day 56!

It has been non-stop over here.  We worked all through the weekend, shooting for about 12 hours yesterday and rolled right into another busy day today.  I was up for a cardio workout yesterday but it wasn’t happening.  Today was busy from the get go and tonight I am playing a gig with my band DropDead L.A. at The Roxy.  Therefore, I had but one smart option… Cardio X to warm up for the show!

I powered through the workout getting the blood flowing through my body and stretching out as well.  This was much needed.  I wrapped up and immediately hit my drum pad to warm up with some rudiments.  Feeling good, feeling loose, and feeling ready to go.  Time to go get rocked out and then go and rock out.  If you’re around the strip tonight, drop on by, it’s a free show.  We play around midnight.

Awesome workout this morning.  I love the biceps exercise on this one.  As for the back exercises, I switched it up and did them all with the stretch band.  I wanted to chill on the pullups today and do more focused moves on my back.  And it was still a fantastic pump.  The biceps of course were great and I am still feeling the after burn.  I hit abs hard as well and feelin’ great for the rest of the day.

Gotta run now.  Prepping for 2 shoots tomorrow… we will be going from 9am until about 11pm tomorrow, so  will most def not be blogging.  Have a fantastic weekend and here’s a little inspiration for ya…

This was the perfect workout for today as it’s been a long week and we have a busy weekend ahead.  I had another band rehearsal this evening with DropDead L.A.  Btw… we’re playing a big show this coming Monday at The Roxy on the Sunset Strip.  It’s a free show… come on down.  🙂

I didn’t have time to workout this morning, so after I got home from rehearsal, I quickly made the decision to do the X Stretch.  I really connected with my body tonight.  I could feel my muscle fibers stretching one by one and really was able to settle deep into my breath and open up my flexibility.  I also fell into some additional organic stretches that felt just right.  All in all, a great workout and I really feel good right now.  And… I actually still have more work to do tonight before bed.  So… I bid you goodnight.

Busy day today so I’m gonna keep this short.  I took a lunch break and filled it with working out.  🙂   I rather eat at my desk while working anyway… especially considering I eat every hour or so.  lol.

Yesterday was another long day and I was super sore from Monday’s leg workout.  In fact, my legs are still sore today.  So I rested it yesterday and hit the chest, triceps, and shoulders workout hard today.  This one is still a beast.  But I love it.  Feelin’ pumped now.  I did abs, but switched it up a bit.  I learned a few new standing ab exercises yesterday, so I added those in at the top and did a few other moves as well.  I wrapped up quickly, made my protein shake, and got back to it.  Plus, tonight I have a 3 hour band rehearsal with DropDead LA as we are playing a big show this coming Monday at the Roxy!  Nothin’ like a 3 hour cardio workout playing drums!

P90X – Round 2, Day 52!

Another long day, but still got it in…

I was up and out the door early this morning.  Got back right in the middle of the business day, so just kept working.  I finally took my break to work out a little bit ago.  My schedule continues to be a bit screwy but all good.  Today was legs and back.  Since I have been loading the weight workouts lately, it seems like I am almost over-training my back.  So instead today, I focused more on my legs.  I still did a few sets of chin-ups and pullups, but I also added in some abs during the back exercises.  Since I wasn’t fatiguing myself in between the leg exercises, I was able to hit my legs a bit harder and follow through with more.  That felt good as the leg workout is intense and my legs need more focus.  I had a solid workout overall and skipped over ab ripper x today.  I would call this portion of the program the  ‘P90Justindoingwhatfeelsbestforhisbody’.  😉  And I am feeling good.  My body is reacting well since I changed things up.

It’s actually been a productive weekend and today has been no exception with much still to do tonight.  So, I took a little break and knocked out the Cardio X class!  After yesterday’s intense shoulders, biceps, triceps workout, I was expecting to wake up in a world of soreness this morning.  But to my surprise, I actually really didn’t feel much.  Hmmm… did I not work out as hard as I thought?  Well… a few hours into the day, my questions were answered.  Out of nowhere, I suddenly felt it… oh yes… the soreness is here.  Better late than never. lol.  My arms and shoulders are thanking me now for yesterday’s work.  🙂

On to Cardio X… I like this class.  It is not crazy long and it mixes up a little of everything.  I got into it and got a good sweat going.  After a week that focused on weight training, it was the perfect way to wrap it up.  And now I must get back to work and finish up because tomorrow is a big day with a very early start.  Happy Father’s Day!  🙂
