Gym Day… Chest, Back, Abs!

Hit the gym earlier and hit it heavy!

Extremely busy day today and been packing all night.  Leaving early in the morning for a trip tomorrow.  But I did manage to take a drive over to Gold’s Gym NoHo and get one more workout in.  I pushed heavy chest and back today and rocked a few sets of abs too.  It was a nice way to clear my mind after the day and prepare for our trip.  I WILL be working out while out of town… I just don’t know exactly what and where yet.  I did pack our exercise bands, so in case I can’t get to a gym, I will have the ability to still keep it going.  I don’t think I’ll be able to blog much while gone, so just in case, I’m gonna add one more here tonight and then wrap it up.  I wish you all a great week and a fantastic Labor Day Weekend.

Gym Day… Shoulders and Triceps!

It’s been a long day and I’m exhausted, so I’m gonna make this one brief.

Got to Gold’s Gym Hollywood this morning for an explosive Shoulders, Triceps, and Abs workout.  Once again, pushed it heavy and felt great.  Then went on to several appointments.  It’s been a busy and exhausting, but most beautiful week thus far.  And these next few days aren’t gonna let up either.  So I’m gonna cut it here, finally grab my shower, and relax for a bit before bed.  Nite nite.

Gym Day! Chest and Back!

I finally caught up on a little sleep this morning after staying up late again editing video.  I could still use more… but I did feel refreshed.  After my power protein shake, I jumped up and headed out the door.  Destination… Gold’s Gym NoHo!

I took a nice 10 minute stroll on the treadmill to warm up.  I would have jumped off sooner, but my Chicago Bears were laying a hurt on the Washington Redskins in a preseason game, so I had to watch a little more. 🙂

After that I stretched out and than hit it hard!  I alternated between 3 sets of chest and 3 sets of back and threw in a set of abs in between when I switched.  I again went heavier than I have in a long time… actually heavier than ever on a few exercises.  It felt awesome!  I felt like beast… strong and energized.  I wanted to go even heavier, but without a spotter, I held back to not risk injury.  I’ll have to find some more workout buddies if I wanna keep this up.

I powered through and completed chest, back, and abs and then off I went.  I’m working on the new TV show “How to Live with Your Parents for the Rest of Your Life” tomorrow and have a 7am call time.  So I’m glad I was able to complete my workout and get back.  I’m gonna clean up and pack my stuff now so that I can have a nice productive evening and hopefully get to bed early.  It’s gonna be a long day tomorrow, so I will probably make it a rest day… but ya never know. 😉

P90X – Round 2, Day 81!

You will notice a line through Back above and in it’s place Chest.  Today I guess would have been a chest and something day.  But I wanted more bicep action… especially since we got the new 90 lb. stretch bands.  I gotta be honest as well… tomorrow I am working on the NBC show “The New Normal”.  This is the rescheduled date from last week.  I will be playing a Go Go Dancer in a gay night club and of course will be shirtless.  I wanted to get a good pump today so that I’m looking extra swelled tomorrow. lol. Chest, biceps, and abs seemed like the best way to go.

I did the back and biceps routine today as that is the best bicep workout in the program.  During the back exercises, I subbed in chest.  I pretty much followed the chest routine from the chest and back workout.  I hit em both hard.  Using the new heavy duty stretch band, I really was able to work my biceps.  It felt like I was pulling a lot more weight and I was diggin’ the challenge.  Overall a great workout… and then I hit abs.  I was pretty burned by then.  The last few workouts, I did Ab Ripper X first which proved to be a good idea.  Doing it at the end of an insane workout is tough.  But I chugged along.  I wanted to mix it up anyway today, so I did about half the moves from the program and the other half with my own twist… planks, various crunches, etc.

Ok… now it’s off to groom and prep for my shoot tomorrow.  I probably won’t be checking in here again til Friday, so enjoy the rest of your week and have a great night!

As promised, I moved my ab ripper x workout to today.  I warmed up for a few minutes and then kicked off with abs.  It’s great doing abs first.  Doing them with full energy allows a better ab workout and getting them done and out of the way is also a nice relief. 🙂

I then jumped into the X Stretch, a workout I have not done in a while.  Today I needed it as I have been pushing my body hard with weights workouts lately.  So, a good ab workout mixed with a nice hour of stretching was the perfect program for this hot Sunday afternoon.

This also frees me up for a busy and productive night ahead of editing text for our book and editing video for 2 projects in the works.  Nothing like another productive weekend.  Hope you had a great weekend as well and are ready to kick off another big week!

P90X – Round 2, Day 77!

In a strange twist of the day, I got this workout in after all.

We started the morning with a headshot client here at the studio.  And then I was getting ready to head to set as I was going to be in the show “The New Normal” today.  At the last second, production called and had to cancel the shoot and reschedule for next week.  Bad news… no shoot.  Good news… I still get paid and still get to shoot!  Plus I got to take care of things today as well as get in a much needed nap.

When it cooled down a bit, I kicked into gear and locked into the Shoulders and Arms workout.  Today I tried something new.  I started with the warmup and stretch but then skipped ahead and actually did Ab Ripper X first.  This proved to be a pretty cool thing.  Since I wasn’t totally spent from an hour of lifting, I had more in the tank to power through the ab workout and was able to hit em harder.  The other great thing was that after I finished the weight workout, I was done!  What a relief! haha.  It was nice being able to just finish up at that point.  Especially today as I really dug in and pushed myself on all of the shoulders, biceps, and triceps moves.  I am trying to increase the weight and my bands are starting to fail me, but I found a way to increase the intensity with them today.  But since I am switching in gym workouts, I will find more time to lift heavier throughout.

We had to split right after the workout to hit Trader Joes and Whole Foods before they closed.  We needed to stock up on healthy eats.  And I’m gonna go make a mad salad now with all kinds of good stuff in it.  Hope y’all had a great day and are staying cool out there.

That ended up being a pretty damn good workout!  Since I have been doing so many back days lately, I wanted to chill on that today.  I also wanted to focus on chest and abs more.  So today I did the chest and back routine, but instead of the back exercises, I subbed in various ab and core exercises.  I went extreme on those and because I wasn’t burning out on pullups, I was able to go all out on my pushups.  I went to failure every time… I mean falling on my face, can’t even push myself up off the ground failure.  My chest is super swelled up right now and my abs are feeling tight.  That was a great combination for a workout and I am feeling good now… and kind of shaking a bit too.  haha.  A great way to kick off a Monday.  I wish you all a fantastic week ahead!
