Gym Day… Chest, Back, Abs!

Hit the gym earlier and hit it heavy!

Chest, Back, and Abs
Approx – 75 mins

Extremely busy day today and been packing all night.  Leaving early in the morning for a trip tomorrow.  But I did manage to take a drive over to Gold’s Gym NoHo and get one more workout in.  I pushed heavy chest and back today and rocked a few sets of abs too.  It was a nice way to clear my mind after the day and prepare for our trip.  I WILL be working out while out of town… I just don’t know exactly what and where yet.  I did pack our exercise bands, so in case I can’t get to a gym, I will have the ability to still keep it going.  I don’t think I’ll be able to blog much while gone, so just in case, I’m gonna add one more here tonight and then wrap it up.  I wish you all a great week and a fantastic Labor Day Weekend.

Gym Day! Chest and Back!

I finally caught up on a little sleep this morning after staying up late again editing video.  I could still use more… but I did feel refreshed.  After my power protein shake, I jumped up and headed out the door.  Destination… Gold’s Gym NoHo!

Chest, Back, Abs
Approx. 75 minutes

I took a nice 10 minute stroll on the treadmill to warm up.  I would have jumped off sooner, but my Chicago Bears were laying a hurt on the Washington Redskins in a preseason game, so I had to watch a little more. 🙂

After that I stretched out and than hit it hard!  I alternated between 3 sets of chest and 3 sets of back and threw in a set of abs in between when I switched.  I again went heavier than I have in a long time… actually heavier than ever on a few exercises.  It felt awesome!  I felt like beast… strong and energized.  I wanted to go even heavier, but without a spotter, I held back to not risk injury.  I’ll have to find some more workout buddies if I wanna keep this up.

I powered through and completed chest, back, and abs and then off I went.  I’m working on the new TV show “How to Live with Your Parents for the Rest of Your Life” tomorrow and have a 7am call time.  So I’m glad I was able to complete my workout and get back.  I’m gonna clean up and pack my stuff now so that I can have a nice productive evening and hopefully get to bed early.  It’s gonna be a long day tomorrow, so I will probably make it a rest day… but ya never know. 😉

Hope your weekend was great and wishing you a fantastic week ahead!

P90X – Round 2, Day 81!

P90X – Back Chest and Biceps
P90X – Ab Ripper X
Total Time = 73 Minutes

You will notice a line through Back above and in it’s place Chest.  Today I guess would have been a chest and something day.  But I wanted more bicep action… especially since we got the new 90 lb. stretch bands.  I gotta be honest as well… tomorrow I am working on the NBC show “The New Normal”.  This is the rescheduled date from last week.  I will be playing a Go Go Dancer in a gay night club and of course will be shirtless.  I wanted to get a good pump today so that I’m looking extra swelled tomorrow. lol. Chest, biceps, and abs seemed like the best way to go.

I did the back and biceps routine today as that is the best bicep workout in the program.  During the back exercises, I subbed in chest.  I pretty much followed the chest routine from the chest and back workout.  I hit em both hard.  Using the new heavy duty stretch band, I really was able to work my biceps.  It felt like I was pulling a lot more weight and I was diggin’ the challenge.  Overall a great workout… and then I hit abs.  I was pretty burned by then.  The last few workouts, I did Ab Ripper X first which proved to be a good idea.  Doing it at the end of an insane workout is tough.  But I chugged along.  I wanted to mix it up anyway today, so I did about half the moves from the program and the other half with my own twist… planks, various crunches, etc.

Ok… now it’s off to groom and prep for my shoot tomorrow.  I probably won’t be checking in here again til Friday, so enjoy the rest of your week and have a great night!

P90X – Round 2, Day 78!

Saturday night lift.

P90X – Chest and Back
Total time = 58 minutes

I was actually pretty tired today, so it took a lot to muster up the strength for this one.  But once I jumped in, it was on!  I went hard, going to failure on all chest and back exercises.  I felt great throughout, but expended everything I had.  By the end, I was too wasted to attempt Ab Ripper X.  I decided that I will do abs tomorrow instead.  Better to do them right then to half-ass them and not get any results.  I do feel good now and will now enjoy a productive Saturday night of music video editing.  Have a great night!

P90X – Round 2, Day 75!

Swelled up!

P90X – Chest and Back Abs/Core
Total time = 60 minutes

That ended up being a pretty damn good workout!  Since I have been doing so many back days lately, I wanted to chill on that today.  I also wanted to focus on chest and abs more.  So today I did the chest and back routine, but instead of the back exercises, I subbed in various ab and core exercises.  I went extreme on those and because I wasn’t burning out on pullups, I was able to go all out on my pushups.  I went to failure every time… I mean falling on my face, can’t even push myself up off the ground failure.  My chest is super swelled up right now and my abs are feeling tight.  That was a great combination for a workout and I am feeling good now… and kind of shaking a bit too.  haha.  A great way to kick off a Monday.  I wish you all a fantastic week ahead!

Another big GYM Day!

Hittin’ the gym on a Saturday afternoon!

Legs, Back, Abs!
Approx. 75 mins

Today’s P90X workout was Legs, Back, and Abs.  Being that I had some extra time on this beautiful Saturday afternoon, I jumped in the car and cruised over to Gold’s Gym North Hollywood.  I actually haven’t been over at this particular location since last year.  It’s a cool gym… very 70s store front like.  But a cool vibe.  It is also closer to our place, so it’s the best option when I’m not down in Hollywood.

I wanted to push some heavier weight again, so this worked out well.  I am trying to add some size now, so I need to continue mixing up my P90 workouts with trips to the gym.  It also just keeps things fresh considering I have done the same P90X workouts over and over again.  I love them, but I’m starting to know every Tony Horton line and that is scary. lol.

Today’s workout was great.  I pushed myself hard… almost too hard.  But it felt great.  I was loading up the leg sled and pushing a lot of weight and feeling very strong.  My back exercises were great too.  I mixed in pull-ups with lat pulls and did things I haven’t done in a while.  For abs, I used their fully inverted bench and did several sets of upside down  crunches.  Definitely hit some muscles today that haven’t been worked in a while.  When I got home, I was actually pretty spent.  I had to lay down and chill for a few.  Now it’s time to get to work and have a productive and creative Saturday.  Whatever you’re doing… have a blast and enjoy the rest of your weekend. 🙂

Oh btw… one of our clients here at 3 Cubed Studios… DeeDee Trotter… raced today in the Olympics!  She is rad… check her out on TV tonight.  Her specialty is the 400 meter.  I think she is doing good.  We photographed her last year.

Gym Day!

Lovin’ the gym!

Back, Biceps, Abs
Approx. 75 minutes

Today we were down in Hollywood getting our haircut by the best rock ‘n roll hair stylist in the world… Rayzor at Gorgeous Salon.  After that, we were in the neighborhood, so Mary & I headed over to Gold’s Gym Hollywood for a weight training day.  My P90X schedule would have been Back, Biceps, & Ab Ripper X, so I did Back, Bi’s, and Abs at the gym.  I really focused on my biceps today as I feel that they are one of my areas that need more training.  I also did some back moves that I haven’t done in a while since I have not done back at the gym since last year.  I mixed in some hard abs and finished strong.  It felt great as always.  I love being able to push the heavier weight at the gym and I am really digging the combination of P90X with the gym days.  This round of P90 is obviously taking me way more than 90 days to complete, but that is ok with me because I have been altering the workouts, hitting the gym, and in general just doing a lot more.

Feeling great and hope you are too.  Nite.

P90X – Round 2, Day 72!

Wrapping up the week!

P90X – Legs and Back
Plus Triceps and Abs!
Total Time = 75 Minutes

Dug in on legs and back today.  Since I hit the gym this week on shoulders/arms day and left out triceps, I worked them in today instead.  I switched in tricep exercises for various leg and back exercises so the timing was still the same.  I wanted a good burn today, but I didn’t wanna totally wipe myself out.  My band Hollywood Roses is headlining a big show tomorrow night at Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, CA.  It will be a 2 hour show outdoors and therefore will be physically grueling.  I can be a little sore, but I don’t wanna be unable to move.  haha.  Btw, if you are in the Coachella Valley area, here is the invite:

After an hour or so of legs, back, and triceps, and stretched out for a bit and then did about 5 minutes of abs.  I passed on the full Ab Ripper X.  Not today.  All in all, it was a great week of workouts with minimal rest.  This weekend will be a lot of work but a lot of fun.  I wish you all an amazing weekend!

P90X – Round 2, Day 69!

Rockin’ workout on a Sunday evening!

P90X – Chest and Back
P90X – Ab Ripper X
Total time = 74 minutes

It’s been a good, productive weekend thus far.  I was up late last night editing video and spent most of today cleaning up and organizing around the house.  And I have more video editing to do tonight.  But, I definitely wanted to rock the chest, back, and abs workout today.  It was a great workout as well.  I went to failure on all chest and back moves and dug in deep on my abs.  I’m expecting much soreness tomorrow. lol.

Since Monday, I have worked out 6 out of 7 days… 2 P90X weight days, 1 weight day in the gym, and 3 cardio workouts.  A solid week if I say so myself!  Ok… gonna get to it here.  I hope you had a great weekend and I wish you an awesome week ahead.

P90X – Round 2, Day 67!

Going strong!

P90X – Back and Biceps
P90X – Ab Ripper X
Total Time = 73 Minutes

This week is going great… 3 workouts in a row… which is good the way my schedule has been lately.  Even though my routine is all over the place time wise, I am still getting them in.  It was a night workout tonight… big time back and biceps!  I love the extra focus on biceps in this one.  I worked it hard.  I have officially outgrown my stretch bands.  Time to upgrade.  It feels good to feel strong and see the improvements.  I’m gonna have to either get more weights here or start hitting the gym more so I can put on some more size.  All in all, I am very pleased with my workouts thus far since being back from Tijuana.

Ab ripper X was good today as well.  Although I must say, it is hard doing that intense of an ab workout after an hour of crazy weight training.  Sometimes I just don’t have it in me or I fall a bit short.  Today I kicked it into high gear and did the entire thing, but it’s not always so easy.  When I work out at the gym, I usually mix in my sets of abs in between sets of weights so that I am doing them throughout.  It keeps me going while resting between exercises and it also prevents saving all of the ab exercises for the end.  I wonder how we can mix up P90X to get more abs in early on.  Hmmmmm…. 😉

Ok folks… I still got more work to do.  Have a beautiful night.
