Juice Cleanse! Day 9!

Still going strong… but had to adapt a little more. I had a few green juices today, but I was gone for too long to not eat. I also got a headache at one point, so I knew my body needed food today. I had 2 salads as well as a few clean snacks in addition to my juices. And I’m truly feeling great now. Tomorrow is going to be an even busier day as I will be gone from 10am until 11:30pm. So I’m going to have to plan several juices as well as several meals. I will keep in the same theme of the salads and what not, so I’m still definitely cleansing, it has just been adapted on this second round. No workout today… I took a rest day. Tomorrow I’m gonna try to get one in early and I also have band practice for 2 hours at the end of the day. So… I will still get some physical activity. And that’s pretty much the story for day 9. Not the most exciting report but all is well and there lot’s more to come. Have a great night!

Juice Cleanse! Day 8!

It’s late and I have an early start tomorrow, so I need to keep this short. Today we started the second round of juicing and it was tough. My body was hungry all day regardless of how much juice I drank. I did manage to workout this morning. I went with the P90X Cardio X routine… a nice 45 minute workout and that was about as much as I could do. I feel good, but have also realized that I will need to slightly adjust this part of the cleanse. While I do plan on consuming mostly raw green juices for the next 3 days, I also must supplement with some clean food. About 30 minutes after my workout I ate a cup of organic blackberries. An hour later I had another juice.  Tonight we had a nice clean salad as an evening meal. I will continue like this for 3 more days and then it’s back to eating and juicing. I will say, I have gained an entire new respect for my digestive system and I am so much more aware of how it works, what it likes and dislikes, etc. I plan to continue juicing daily even after this cleanse and I expect my body to continue to improve with each day.

Nite nite and here’s a little inspiration for ya…

Juice Cleanse! Day 7!

This is actually yesterday’s blog, just coming a little late. I spent several hours editing video last night and then was just too tired to even try to put something together. Today is already slammed, but I wanted to share a little something.

Yesterday was the last food day before returning to another 4 days of pure juicing. As with all of the food days, we began with a juice. Here’s what it looked like before…

Juice 1-13

And after…

Juice cup1-13

This recipe included: Chard, Cucumber, Celery, Romaine Lettuce, Parsley, Lemon, Lime, Ginger

I ate very well yesterday. Lots of veggies and proteins, salad, protein shakes, greens, almond butter, alkaline water with chia seeds, etc. With these 3 food days, I also did 3 days of weight workouts. Yesterday’s was P90X Chest, Shoulders, Triceps and I did my own Abs routine.

Today began Day 8… juice day. These next 4 days are going to be a bit of a challenge as my entire week is filled up with meetings, auditions, and a lot of work away from the home office. Being that I will be gone for long stretches at a time, I will probably have to eat a little… just some veggies and stuff, but something to keep me from totally crashing at work or totally bombing an audition. lol.

We are half way done and this has been an amazing experience thus far. In the first 7 days, I actually lost 6 lbs… not that I wanted to lose weight, but obviously it is to be expected. I will gain a little back naturally after the next round of food days, but the best part is that I will now have a perfect and toxic-free foundation to begin building healthy, lean muscle.

Until later… have a fantastic day! And chew on this…

Juice Cleanse! Day 6!

Just wrapping up day 6 of my cleanse. I must admit, days 5 and 6 have been quite good. Even though I’m still cleansing, I am eating well. Once again, the plan calls to start the day with a juice. Here’s what ours looked like before it became juice this morning…

Juice 1-12

Ingredients include (all organic):  Spinach, Collard Greens, Cucumber, Celery, Dandelion Root, Lemon, Lime, Ginger

As with many of my juices, I topped it off with a few shakes of Cayenne Pepper and Turmeric.

After that it was protein shake and workout time! Today brought on P90X Legs! I’m sore already… but my body is feeling great. I have eaten a lot of good foods today including 2 plant based protein shakes (one with greens), a gluten free oatmeal blend, raw almond butter, tempeh, pumpkin seeds, and a delicious dinner that Mary made us as seen below…

Mary Meal_tofu scramble

Ingredients (all organic): sprouted tofu, spinach, mushroom, broccoli, green peppers, and onions

She very lightly sauteed this and only seasoned it with a little pepper and sea salt. It was a bit like a scramble, but halfway between raw and cooked. We topped it off with avocado. Yummy. 🙂

So far so good. I have been eating smaller amounts at a time and really focusing on chewing better and swallowing with less air. Most of my life I have swallowed food with a lot of air as well as not chewed as much as I should. As I’ve learned, that can have a negative effect on my digestive system. When gas is created in the intestine, not only is it uncomfortable, but the food is not being digested as completely and therefore some of the nutrients are not being used by the body. This cleanse is most definitely more than just resetting my body… it is teaching me a whole new way to fuel myself.

I hope you are enjoying a beautiful weekend. Goodnight.

Gym Day! Legs and Biceps!

I had a fitting this morning in Hollywood for a certain show I am working on tomorrow… but cannot tell you about yet.  After that, I cruised straight over to Gold’s Gym Hollywood for…

Legs, Biceps, Abs!
Approx 75 mins

After a nice warmup on the treadmill and some stretching, I put on the ipod and headed into the weight room.  I again went for heavy weights today.  My legs felt strong as I pushed more weight than ever before on some of the exercises.  I have seen vast strength improvements in my legs as of late.  There may still be a chance for these chicken legs yet! lol.  I attempted as heavy as I could with my biceps as well.  But my strength is still not where I want it to be there.  If I had to break it down by body part, I would say that my biceps need the most improvement.  There could be other reasons at play, such as my tendons which tend to flare up from time to time.  So, I did what I could today and kept pushing myself even though it was quite challenging.  I added a few sets of abs throughout and finished strong.  A solid workout and done early in the day.  Been busy ever since and now getting everything together for my shoot tomorrow.  Have a great night!

P90X – Round 2, Day 82… plus 2 more workouts!

Haven’t been on much in the last few days… time to catch up.

P90X – Cardio X
Total Time = 49 Minutes

Just finished this.  Needed an easy cardio workout today to just keep it going.  I’ve been on the go lately as well as hitting the gym, so this was exactly what I needed today.  Cardio X was on par as usual.

Yesterday… Mary and I hit the beach and rented some bikes down in Venice.  We rode up and down the coast for nearly 2 hours.  It wasn’t a strenuous workout as we were just on some beach cruisers.  But it was still a workout, complete with sun and fresh air.  A very enjoyable way to exercise.  After that, we walked back to our car which happened to be parked in front of Gold’s Gym Venice… a.k.a. The Mecca!  I couldn’t leave without joining the meat heads and pushing some weight.  I did shoulders and triceps for about 45 minutes.  I was going heavy too.  It felt good to hit the heavy weight as that has been more of my goal lately.  Great workout.

And… on Thursday, I worked on the new show “The New Normal”. It will be episode 2 where I am playing a go go dancer.  They had me in nothing but a little pair of CK undies. lol.  I shook my ass and had a blast.  When we wrapped, I was in Hollywood and had some energy, so I busted over to Gold’s Gym Hollywood to hit some legs.  I did about 30-40 minutes straight through as it was already pretty late.  I went heavy… I mean I went heavier than I ever have with legs.  I need to build my leg muscles up the most and the only way that is going to happen is if I really start challenging them.  Again, another great workout.

As you can see from my last few blogs, my trend has been moving more towards heavier weight workouts at the gym lately.  I am just a few days shy of wrapping up my second round of P90X and I need to keep adapting and growing.  All in all… I’m feeling great.  And now on to a productive evening of video editing.  Hope you’re having a fantastic weekend!

Gym Day…Legs!

Legs – Approx 60 mins

After another hot L.A. day, I headed off at Sunset over to Gold’s Gym in North Hollywood.  My mission… legs… and heavy weights.  It’s time to start adding some size to this frame.  So as I add in more gym workouts, I will be pushing more weight than ever.  Today, I went heavy on legs.  I did 4 different exercises… 3 sets of each.  I took the weight heavier than I ever had before on legs and it felt fantastic!  I obviously brought the reps down, but was surprised how many reps I was still able to do at those weights.  I did a nice warmup and then just focused on legs alone for the workout.  It has been a long time since I only focused on a single body part and it was nice to do so since legs are such a big part of the body.  Now time to relax and enjoy the night.  Wishing you all a beautiful weekend.

Another big GYM Day!

Hittin’ the gym on a Saturday afternoon!

Legs, Back, Abs!
Approx. 75 mins

Today’s P90X workout was Legs, Back, and Abs.  Being that I had some extra time on this beautiful Saturday afternoon, I jumped in the car and cruised over to Gold’s Gym North Hollywood.  I actually haven’t been over at this particular location since last year.  It’s a cool gym… very 70s store front like.  But a cool vibe.  It is also closer to our place, so it’s the best option when I’m not down in Hollywood.

I wanted to push some heavier weight again, so this worked out well.  I am trying to add some size now, so I need to continue mixing up my P90 workouts with trips to the gym.  It also just keeps things fresh considering I have done the same P90X workouts over and over again.  I love them, but I’m starting to know every Tony Horton line and that is scary. lol.

Today’s workout was great.  I pushed myself hard… almost too hard.  But it felt great.  I was loading up the leg sled and pushing a lot of weight and feeling very strong.  My back exercises were great too.  I mixed in pull-ups with lat pulls and did things I haven’t done in a while.  For abs, I used their fully inverted bench and did several sets of upside down  crunches.  Definitely hit some muscles today that haven’t been worked in a while.  When I got home, I was actually pretty spent.  I had to lay down and chill for a few.  Now it’s time to get to work and have a productive and creative Saturday.  Whatever you’re doing… have a blast and enjoy the rest of your weekend. 🙂

Oh btw… one of our clients here at 3 Cubed Studios… DeeDee Trotter… raced today in the Olympics!  She is rad… check her out on TV tonight.  Her specialty is the 400 meter.  I think she is doing good.  We photographed her last year.

P90X – Round 2, Day 72!

Wrapping up the week!

P90X – Legs and Back
Plus Triceps and Abs!
Total Time = 75 Minutes

Dug in on legs and back today.  Since I hit the gym this week on shoulders/arms day and left out triceps, I worked them in today instead.  I switched in tricep exercises for various leg and back exercises so the timing was still the same.  I wanted a good burn today, but I didn’t wanna totally wipe myself out.  My band Hollywood Roses is headlining a big show tomorrow night at Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, CA.  It will be a 2 hour show outdoors and therefore will be physically grueling.  I can be a little sore, but I don’t wanna be unable to move.  haha.  Btw, if you are in the Coachella Valley area, here is the invite:  https://www.facebook.com/events/346218848778618/

After an hour or so of legs, back, and triceps, and stretched out for a bit and then did about 5 minutes of abs.  I passed on the full Ab Ripper X.  Not today.  All in all, it was a great week of workouts with minimal rest.  This weekend will be a lot of work but a lot of fun.  I wish you all an amazing weekend!

Gym Day!

Substituted the P90X leg day today for a big leg blast at the gym.  I had a noon meeting with my networking group, The All Cities Media group, over at Paramount Studios.  Perfect time and location to swing around to Gold’s Gym Hollywood right after.

I hit it hard for about 75 minutes doing heavier leg lifts, abs, and a few sets of pullups and shrugs just for fun.  It felt good to be in the gym vibe today.  And it wasn’t too crowded which allowed for a more intense workout.  Home workouts are quite convenient, but the energy of the gym and actually being somewhere away from home are also great.  I felt strong and inspired today and had a great workout.

Tomorrow, back to P90 for some cardio I think.

Have a great night!
