P90X – Round 2, Day 64!

Wow… busy day… glad I got it in!

P90X – Legs and Back
Total Time = 64 Minutes

It has been a beautiful, but crazy busy week already.  I’m just glad I have managed to fit 2 workouts in already.   I had a lot of work to do this morning, but took a break to knock out the legs and back workout before a business meeting and a photo shoot.  Glad I got it in earlier.  Obviously I am blogging some 5 hours after my workout.  It was a solid one today as usual.  However, I did legs at the gym the other day and was able to really push some heavy weight.  This workout is more of a burn but less on the weights.  Being that my legs need the most development, I think I will need to mix it up from now on, doing a leg day at the gym and then doing a P90X leg day for the burn.  That will probably maximize my results.

Ok… gotta run, we are picking up gear and prepping for a big music video that we are shooting tomorrow.  Then on Friday, my band Hollywood Roses will be heading down to Mexico to play the Tijuana Beer Fest.  I will return at some point on Saturday.  So, I don’t know if you will hear much from me between now and Sunday.  I am blessed to be so busy with so many wonderful things.  I wish you all a fantastic rest of your week! 🙂

P90X – Round 2, Day 63!

BIG workout tonight!

P90X – Shoulders and Arms
P90X – Ab Ripper X
Total Time = 81 Minutes

If you’ve been following along lately, you know that my schedule has been craaaazy!  Every day has been a new adventure and we’ve been busier than ever.  Trust me, I am not complaining!  But my workout schedule has been far from routine.  Hell, I’m just happy I’m still able to get em in.  And just to give you an idea as to how hard we’ve been going, this morning I literally passed out while meditating.  I was just having a nice quick morning meditation to clear my mind for the day and woke up an hour later in the fetal position. haha.  I guess I needed a little more sleep.  We went hard all day and so I finally got my workout in this evening.

On to shoulders, biceps, triceps, and abs today.  I felt good going in.  I also felt strong.  I have outgrown my weights and stretch bands, especially doing biceps.  But I went for solid form and more reps and was still able to burn out hard.  After going to the gym the other day,  I am now desiring it more as I enjoyed lifting the heavier weights.  However, on a day like today, I would have never made it to the gym and it’s only because of my home workout that I got it in.  So… there is a balance there.  Well like I said, I felt strong and I pushed hard straight through til the end. Great overall workout today.

I’m gonna try to get as many workouts in between now and Friday as I can.  I have 3 meetings tomorrow in 3 different parts of town.  Then a photo shoot on Wed, and then we’re directing a music video on Thursday.  Oh, and it that wasn’t enough, my band Hollywood Roses is playing a big festival in Tijuana on Friday!  So I’m thinking by Sunday I may need a massage or something. lol.

I hope you’re all doing great out there and that your week is starting off well.  Keep working hard! 🙂

P90X – Round 2, Day 55!

Short on time today, so gotta make this quick…

P90X – Back and Biceps
P90X – Ab Ripper X
Total Time = 73 Minutes

Awesome workout this morning.  I love the biceps exercise on this one.  As for the back exercises, I switched it up and did them all with the stretch band.  I wanted to chill on the pullups today and do more focused moves on my back.  And it was still a fantastic pump.  The biceps of course were great and I am still feeling the after burn.  I hit abs hard as well and feelin’ great for the rest of the day.

Gotta run now.  Prepping for 2 shoots tomorrow… we will be going from 9am until about 11pm tomorrow, so  will most def not be blogging.  Have a fantastic weekend and here’s a little inspiration for ya…

P90X – Round 2, Day 45!

Day 45?!  I guess that means I just passed the halfway point of Round 2!

P90X – Cardio X
Total Time = 49 Minutes

I’m feeling great today!  Keeping my shortened off-week going with some Cardio X.  It’s actually not even one of the off-week workouts, but since I am shortening this week of kenpo, yoga, and core, Cardio X was a fitting workout since it combines all of those together!

I had good energy this morning.  My stamina is improving as I felt very on top of this workout.  When it was over… I was ready for more!  Ahhh… results.  🙂  I think I will get back to the next round of weights tomorrow.  I’m amped up!

We have a busy day ahead as we are shooting the red carpet and interviews at a film festival today called Film Festival Flix at the Laemmle NoHo 7 in North Hollywood.  If you would like to attend with us, here is the info:  http://www.facebook.com/FilmFestivalFlix?sk=app_213898535383329&app_data=sp216818

I wish you all a beautiful day!

P90X – Round 2, Day 45!

P90X – Round 2, Day 27!

Welcome back Plyo!

P90X – Plyometrics
Total Time = 64 Minutes

Up and at ’em on a beautiful Sunday morning and kicked into Plyo.  I actually have not done the plyo workout in almost 2 months.  If you’ve been following along, the last time I did Plyo, I tweaked my back a little.  Therefore, I have been swapping out the Plyo workouts with Cardio X… also a very good workout.  Well today, I felt it was time to give Plyometrics a try again.  And I am glad I did!  It was a fantastic and intense cardio workout to start out the day.  I was very conscious of my form today and kept my core nice and tight to support my back.  I also modified a couple of the moves where I know the impact on my back was a little much.  I had great stamina and was able to keep up and finish strong.  I am feeling fantastic right now, but have to run as we have a photo shoot client on the way to shoot headshots.

Before I go, 2 things…

1.  A little inspiration…
Never make excuses. Always wake up with a smile knowing that today you are going to have fun accomplishing what others are too afraid to do.

2.  Just like Earth Day, Mother’s Day should be EVERY DAY! To all the mothers and mothers-to-be, Happy Mother’s Day wishes from me! I send you love, light, peace, and eternal happiness… today and everyday. ♥ Justin

P90X – Round 2, Day 14!

Inspired Saturday…

P90X – Chest and Back
P90X – Ab Ripper X
Total time = 74 minutes

We had an amazing day yesterday full of meetings and a film screening of one of the most inspiring films I have ever seen.  The day was jam packed from the minute we woke up until we got home after midnight.  Therefore, there was no time for a workout.  However, yesterday’s workout was the X Stretch which can also be used as the one day a week to take a rest day.  So a rest day it was.  But you know me, I will keep track and make up a stretch class somewhere along the way just as I did in the last round.

So this morning it was chest, back, and abs.  Another huge workout.  I am able to keep pushing myself further and further to failure and the burn is oh so good!  I can really now both feel and see the effects of the training and diet that I have been maintaining over the last 4 months and I am quite pleased with my achievements along this journey.

Today is actually going to be another jam packed day as we are going to do a shoot in a bit, followed by attending the Create:Fixate Photography Gallery event downtown, and follow that by meeting up with some of our good friends later on for Karaoke at Sardos. Whew! Another awesome day in progress.

Before I go, however, I wanted to share a bit more about the film we saw last night.  It is called People v. The State of Illusion and it will change your life.  I was very fortunate to recently befriend Betsy Chasse who brought us the film “What the Bleep Do We Know”.  Her company is distributing “People v. The State of Illusion” and she invited us to last night’s special screening featuring a Q&A with the filmmakers.  Like I said, it was a very inspiring and eye-opening film.  It is playing in Westwood for a limited time and also is or will be appearing in other cities around the country.  My wife Mary wrote a beautiful blog about the film this morning and in it, she included all of the info and links so that you can learn more about the film and where to see it.  Check out her post:  http://marylousandler.wordpress.com/2012/04/28/see-this-movie-it-will-change-your-life/

And here’s a little quote I shared today as well to leave you with positive vibrations on this beautiful Saturday.

“You are always a valuable, worthwhile human being, not because anybody says so, not because you’re successful, not because you make a lot of money, but because you decide to believe it and for no other reason.” -Wayne Dyer

P90X – Round 2, Day 12!

Rocked it!

P90X – Legs and Back
P90X – Ab Ripper X
Total Time = 80 Minutes

Big legs and back workout today!  I hit it hard and brought the intensity.  The leg workout is always a killer and I stayed strong throughout.  My pullups are improving as well, as I found my numbers increasing with each set.  I dug in deep today.  By the end I was sweating all over the place, I was out of breath, and quite frankly I felt nauseous.  And that’s a good thing.  The only problem is that by the time I got to abs, I was toast.  I worked the back and legs so hard for almost an hour, that I just didn’t have much left in the tank.  But I forged ahead.  I did alter a few of the moves as well as stopped to breath a couple times as I was a little light headed.  But I finished strong and I am feeling good now.  I have lots to do plus we have a photo shoot tonight, so I must go.  Have a great day!  And here’s today’s quote:

“I failed my way to success.” -Thomas Edison

P90X – Round 2, Day 9!

Beautiful, productive Sunday…

P90X – Cardio X
Total Time = 49 Minutes

I am feeling great!  Got up and got some work done.  Then jumped into my workout.  I did Cardio X again today.  The workout calendar calls for Plyometrics, but for the 2nd week in a row, I substituted the Cardio X workout in.  I love the Plyo workout… it is the most intense cardio workout of this program.  However, it is very high-impact and my spine has been a little angry at me as of late for some of my workout moves.  Therefore, until I am at 100%, I will continue to sub in the Cardio X workout on Plyo days.  It is still an amazing and intense workout, just not as crazy as plyo.  But it does have some of the Plyometrics moves in it among many other things… yoga, core, & kenpo.  And I was sweating all over the place, so I know I was working hard.  I finished strong, did a little extra stretching, and hit the shower.  I just knocked down a raw, organic protein shake and I have a nice pot of quinoa cooking on the stove.  I will make the quinoa breakfast style as I usually do.  And that reminds me… I’ve been meaning to share my breakfast quinoa recipe with you.  Let’s see if I can do that today.  We have lots still to do here plus we have a maternity shoot at the studio tonight, so if I can get it in, I will.  Ok… gotta tend to my food and get back to it. Before I go…

Happy Earth Day my fellow humans.  I appreciate our focus on the earth today, but from this day forward, can we please make EVERYDAY Earth Day?!  It is truly time that we start really taking care of our planet.  It is time that we stop taking for granted everything that this beautiful planet provides for us… from the oceans to the air, from nature to animals to our fellow human beings.  It is time we start treating plants, animals, and our fellow brothers and sisters with more respect.  It is time we stop poisoning our water, air, and land with chemicals such as pesticides and herbicides.  It is time we stop drilling for oil everywhere and focus on cleaner sources of energy.  It is time we stop genetically modifying plants and animals which goes against everything nature was set up to do.  It is time we worry less about how much money our giant corporations are making and worry more about  how we are going to make our planet and our lives more sustainable so that the future generations of humans, plants, and animals alike have a healthy and harmonious environment in which to live and thrive in.  It is time to make Earth Day, everyday… starting today.  Thank you and namaste.

P90X – Round 2, Day 3!

I’m back… sorry for being MIA!

P90X – Shoulders and Arms
P90X – Ab Ripper X
Total Time = 81 Minutes

I haven’t been able to workout… or blog for that matter since Thursday.  My crazy life in the fast lane! lol.  I actually ended up shooting a commercial all day on Friday and then we had to leave for Las Vegas on Friday night.  I got back so late from the shoot that we didn’t hit the road until 11pm.  We rolled in around 4am safe and sound and got some rest.  It was a business trip, but we found a little time for fun.  We had a photo shoot on Saturday afternoon and then I played a gig with Hollywood Roses at a club called Vamp’d on Saturday night.  It was an awesome show!  We played for almost 2 hours, so that was my workout.  I would say I expended a few calories drumming at the intensity for 2 hours. haha.  We hit the Artisan for a little after hours fun and then passed out.  We stopped at Whole Foods on the way out of town to pick up some food for the road and then headed on back to L.A.  I got up fairly early today… still zonked from the weekend.  I hit my workout this morning and it was a good one.  I had to dig in deep though cuz my strength and stamina were a little low.  Need more sleep!  But nevertheless, it was a solid shoulders, biceps, and triceps workout.  I did some variations on the Ab workout and finished strong.  I had to get down to Hollywood for an audition, so I didn’t have time to blog earlier.  I only had time to down a protein shake and hit the shower.  I had a great day and now I am back home to catch up on work and stuff.  I hope you all had a great weekend and I’ll see you tomorrow!

Workout Day 89!

Saturday night Yoga!

P90X – Yoga X
Total Time = 98 Minutes

We had an early morning photo shoot on location today, so it was up and at em right out of the gates.  We wrapped our shoot and while we were in Santa Monica, we tried a new raw, vegan, organic restaurant called Planet Raw.  It was delicious, but a little expensive.  After, we had several errands to run and by the time we got home, there was nothing left in the tank.  A little power nap was in order.  We had a little dinner and then watched a documentary film called “Hungry For Change”.  I highly recommend it!  Lot’s of good information about food and health.

Ok… it was 10pm… so… time for yoga!  Yes it’s Saturday night and yes we were pretty tired.  But, dedication rules.  And we dove right in.  It was a nice practice tonight and I definitely feel much better now for having done it.  I can relax with a nice hot shower, have a little snack, and hit the bed.  We have 2 photo shoots tomorrow, so we will probably go right into those again and hit the workout in the afternoon.  And btw, I only have 1 workout to go to make 90! 🙂

Chag Sameach/Happy Passover! Happy Easter! Happy Full Moon! Happy Weekend!
Whatever it is that connects your spirit, I wish you beauty, positivity, and everlasting love all around you.
