P90X – Round 2, Day 15!

Ahhh Happy Sunday.

P90X – Cardio X
Total Time = 49 Minutes

You know it’s gonna be a good Sunday when you can sleep in, still get in your workout before noon, and then have the rest of the day and beautiful weather to be inspired, productive, and even chill.  It’s been a very busy week and the last 48 hours had us running all over L.A. for meetings, film screenings, photo shoots, art galleries, etc.  I woke up today… or should I say our hungry cat woke me up today… and felt pretty good.  After feeding said hungry cat and having some nice mixed berries myself, I jumped into the Cardio X routine.  Again, I have been replacing the Plyometrics workout with Cardio X for the last 3 weeks to give my spine a little break from the higher impact stuff.  I will probably jump back into plyo on the next round as I have figured out what has been causing my back to hurt and have adjusted my workouts accordingly.  Really I just need to avoid rolling hard on my spine.  I guess a small percentage of us out there have this.  It is where the upper spine connects to the lower spine.  That little section in the middle of your back actually goes inwards for most people.  But a small percentage of people have it pushing outwards.  Not a big deal, but if you continuously put stress on it, it will get inflamed and cause pain.  So, today for example, instead of doing the Dreya Rolls and the Superman-Bananas, I just held a strong plank for those minutes.  Still working the core hard, but no impact on the spine.  See… all good.  And a big thank you to Dr. Paul in Santa Monica for helping me figure that out on Friday.

Anyway, today’s cardio workout was solid.  I worked up a helluva sweat and I am feeling pretty awesome right now.  I hope you are all enjoying your day as well.  Here’s a little inspirational quote to wrap it up…

“Never concentrate on your faults. By doing so you identify yourself with them. You are the one who puts the veil of delusion in front of your wisdom’s eyes. Whatsoever you think, that is what you are.” -Paramahansa Yogananda

P90X – Round 2, Day 9!

Beautiful, productive Sunday…

P90X – Cardio X
Total Time = 49 Minutes

I am feeling great!  Got up and got some work done.  Then jumped into my workout.  I did Cardio X again today.  The workout calendar calls for Plyometrics, but for the 2nd week in a row, I substituted the Cardio X workout in.  I love the Plyo workout… it is the most intense cardio workout of this program.  However, it is very high-impact and my spine has been a little angry at me as of late for some of my workout moves.  Therefore, until I am at 100%, I will continue to sub in the Cardio X workout on Plyo days.  It is still an amazing and intense workout, just not as crazy as plyo.  But it does have some of the Plyometrics moves in it among many other things… yoga, core, & kenpo.  And I was sweating all over the place, so I know I was working hard.  I finished strong, did a little extra stretching, and hit the shower.  I just knocked down a raw, organic protein shake and I have a nice pot of quinoa cooking on the stove.  I will make the quinoa breakfast style as I usually do.  And that reminds me… I’ve been meaning to share my breakfast quinoa recipe with you.  Let’s see if I can do that today.  We have lots still to do here plus we have a maternity shoot at the studio tonight, so if I can get it in, I will.  Ok… gotta tend to my food and get back to it. Before I go…

Happy Earth Day my fellow humans.  I appreciate our focus on the earth today, but from this day forward, can we please make EVERYDAY Earth Day?!  It is truly time that we start really taking care of our planet.  It is time that we stop taking for granted everything that this beautiful planet provides for us… from the oceans to the air, from nature to animals to our fellow human beings.  It is time we start treating plants, animals, and our fellow brothers and sisters with more respect.  It is time we stop poisoning our water, air, and land with chemicals such as pesticides and herbicides.  It is time we stop drilling for oil everywhere and focus on cleaner sources of energy.  It is time we stop genetically modifying plants and animals which goes against everything nature was set up to do.  It is time we worry less about how much money our giant corporations are making and worry more about  how we are going to make our planet and our lives more sustainable so that the future generations of humans, plants, and animals alike have a healthy and harmonious environment in which to live and thrive in.  It is time to make Earth Day, everyday… starting today.  Thank you and namaste.

Workout Day 85!

Beautiful Sunday afternoon Yoga.

P90X – Yoga X
Total Time = 98 Minutes

Slept in just a little today and woke up to blue skies and the sun shining through the windows.  Got a few things done and then Mary and I launched into Yoga X together.  It was great sharing the energy and space together today.  There is no immediate work to do or any stresses of a business day, so we could just breath and focus on the work at hand.  And boy was it an intense yoga practice today.  Part of the reason is because of the ease of the day.  I find when I do yoga on a business day, I tend to have more difficulties in clearing my mind and focusing as much.  Today I was locked in.  Also, the hard work is really starting to show, both physically and internally.  I am able to do more and therefore able to push myself harder within the various poses.  I was able to up the intensity today as I was sweating hard, my muscles shaking, and my entire body feeling elevated to new levels of strength, balance, and flexibility.  I am feeling awesome right now and I am ready to enjoy the rest of this beautiful day.  I hope you all had a great weekend.  Namaste.

Workout Day 56!

You know it’s gonna be a good Sunday when you hit the Plyo before noon!

P90X – Plyometrics
Total Time = 64 Minutes

Rockin’ Rollin the Plyometrics today and I am feeling rad!  I got a pretty early start for a Sunday… got a little work done and then hit the Plyo workout.  This workout still is and will probably always be a beast.  But today I was able to push it harder, jump higher, and overall tackle this workout better than ever before.  My heart was pumpin’ and I was sweating all over the place.  I burned a ton of calories and I actually have a lot of energy right now.  I think Mary and I may do a little hike this afternoon as well to get some fresh air and some good ‘ole vitamin D.  I hope you all are having an amazing weekend.  Enjoy your Sunday! 🙂

Workout Day 44!

This one is still a killer!

P90X – Plyometrics
Total Time = 64 Minutes

I am looking forward to the day that I can complete the Plyometrics workout with ease.  But for now… it is still a beast!  But that’s ok because I am pushing myself harder and harder and reaching higher levels of fitness.  Oh… and it’s Sunday… the day of rest?  I don’t think so!  We’ve been productive all day… took a break to hit the plyo and then back to work in a few.  We have lots to do here plus get prepped for 3 shoots in the next 2 days.  I hope you all had an amazing weekend and I wish you a beautiful week ahead.
